My son “Bug” you know is 2yrs old and loves books, he can literality set for hours looking at books and being read too so I’m always on the lookout for new and fun books to share with him. One of his favorite kinds of books is any books that include animals of any shape and size and he love bugs of course! We recently had a chance to review a book by Tina Turbin and we were both very excited to get started!
About Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy (Taken From Amazon):
Danny's mannerisms are absolutely charming and appealing as he strolls through the pages meeting Jimmy's family and friends in the MOST unusual way, imparting his delightful acts of wisdom and kindness while Skipper continues to take notes in his traveling journal for future adventures. Where are they from? Why are they here? Where are they going? Danny and his little traveling companion, Skipper, are quite the adventuresome and fun duo. This children's book is for the young and young at heart. Written by Tina Turbin and illustrated by multi award-winning artist Aija Jasuna, this is the first story in the Danny series. Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy is loaded with vivid illustrations and a captivating storyline, leaving anyone at any age with a smile on their face and that feel-good feeling. What other thrills will Jimmy experience with his new friend Danny and his traveling companion Skipper?
About Author Tina Turbin (Taken From Website):
Tina Turbin wrote her first children’s story at age 16.
She has led an exciting life: Born in Hawaii and featured in LIFE magazine with Bing Crosby’s family at the tender age of 36 months as a top swimmer for the Red Cross, Tina has lived in England, Puerto Rico and the West Coast of the United States. The arts have always surrounded her and been a major part of her life.
While working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, California, Tina raised three very talented and successful children. She ran her own consulting business and studio,Show Biz Kidz, through which she and her staff along with local Hollywood studio staff helped many children in movies and television lead healthy and successful lives.
Bicoastal since the mid-nineties, Tina wrote and lectured on her book Show Biz Kidz East Coast Guidebook, which supplied answers for southern East Coast families.
How did you come up with the concept of Danny the Dragon?
This series fulfills a passion of mine to delight children and their families with some magic, the spirit of fun and imagination, which I feel really should be preserved in every child at all stages. I truly believe there is no reason the “flame of life” should burn out just because we grow older and have to take on more responsibilities.
What other things do you like to do?
I like to spend as much time as I can observing, gathering data, researching and writing (www.TinaTurbin.com; www.GlutenFreeHelp.Info), and I love to cook. I also love to paint, draw and design and am a licensed decorator, so I am always playing around with fabrics and redesigning things for my own satisfaction.
I totally enjoy being with my husband, my kids, and genuine, upbeat friends.
Oh, and I love Pilates too.
Will you continue to visit schools and libraries?
We are currently taking our two puppies and dogs through training to become Canine Citizens, a series of classes to allow qualified dogs to attend hospitals. Besides visiting schools and libraries, I will be able to visit ill children with one of the pups and read Danny the Dragon to them. This is just another way I can be out there helping to put a smile on people’s faces and lightening their hearts with some “fun and imagination.”
We were sent a copy of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy and the audio cd to accompany it for review.
I have to say that we have been enjoying meeting Danny and Skipper nightly since receiving them and “Bug” loves all the characters and the illustrations are really gorgeous! I love that it has an audio cd to accompany the book so that during the day when he wants to read the book then all I have to do is put the cd in and let it play and he sets and turns the pages all by himself and it is just really amazing for me to watch him act so grown up!
I love this book myself because it not only has beautiful illustrations to keep him busy looking at the book during the story but it’s just a really fun tell that is perfect for the entire family to sit around and read or listen to!
I also like that the cd has music after the story that is perfect for nap time to help “Bug” relax after the story and drift on off to sleep and sleep soundly! I find the music to relax to as well….we are actually listening to it as I type this review!
We love Danny the Dragon here at our household and look for to many more adventures with him and Skipper in the future! I love absolutely everything about this book and cd set, it’s perfect on the go in the car if “Bug” wants to take it with him to have something to do during the car ride and no matter how many times I’ve read it to him or listened at it with him it still brings a smile to my face! Thanks so much Tina! It’s the perfect book for my toddler!!
I really recommend you checking out Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy if you want a fun family read that will keep your kids entertained every time they set down to read or listen to it!
