David’s Cookies Review (Christmas Wish List 2010)
Show of hands….how many of you have at least one person on your shopping list that is difficult to buy for every year because one they have everything already or two they are just extremely picky and they won’t give you any ideas to what they may want……yep, I have at least two every year so that’s why I turn to food gifts such as homemade cookie baskets, gifts in a jar and gourmet gift baskets but this year I think I will just send those two gift recipients a super yummy treat from David’s Cookies!!! I discovered David’s Cookies earlier this month when I was given the chance to review their 1 lb. cookie tin and boy was it mouth watering :0)!
About David’s Cookie (Taken From Website):
In 1979, David Liederman was a top chef in New York City. At the time, boutique cookie shops along the West Coast were everywhere and the smell of fresh baked, chocolate chip cookies could be smelled for miles.
Chef David had the brilliant idea to bring this California trend back East, and the first David’s Cookies store was born in the heart of Manhattan. Passersby quickly fell in love with his funny shaped cookies, which were always oven fresh and loaded with heaping chunks (not chips) of chocolate. Chef David, trained in the finest French culinary academies, began mixing and tasting; using only the finest, all natural, ingredients - pure vanilla, butter, Swiss chocolate and whole nuts, he achieved his anticipated result; a uniquely delicious cookie that looked and tasted “just like mamma made!”
The company was an immediate success and David’s brand of fresh baked cookies became well known throughout the Northeast and across the country. Even his name created a huge following and Davids everywhere ate up his cookies to gain one of the coveted David’s cookie tins. The delicious recipes won many awards, including the NY Newsday Cookie Award for the Best Chocolate Chunk Cookie. By the mid 1980’s, David’s Cookies was an international franchise with over 250 cookie shops throughout the world.
With rising operating costs in the 1980s, many David’s Cookies storefronts closed down. The company was purchased by Fairfield Gourmet Foods Corp - a New Jersey based gourmet dessert company who rejuvenated the David’s brand by introducing these high quality cookies and frozen cookie dough into the food service and co-branding industries. Then, in the late 1990s, the company took the next step and made an online cookie store. Today, David’s Cookies is the leading provider of fresh baked cookies on the Internet, and continues to win awards including getting voted one of Good Housekeeping Magazine’s 10 Best Mail-order Goodies for Giving (or Serving), December 2007 for their mini cheesecake selections. The David’s Cookies brand is also growing by leaps and bounds in the corporate gifting industry, with new additions to their cookie gift basket selection, giant message cookies and other great gift ideas.
Our Thoughts:
We were sent the Fresh Baked Cookies 1 lb. Tin to review and it arrived very quickly and was packaged extremely well and all 12 cookies were in great shape with no chips or damage of any kind! The tin included a David’s Cookies tin and come with a complimentary greeting message. Contains approximately 12 (1.5 oz) cookies. Assorted Flavors include: Chocolate Chunk (not your ordinary chocolate chip cookie), Peanut Butter, Macadamia with White Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Cherry, and Double Chocolate Chunk (Chocolate Cookie).
I have to admit that once these cookies arrived at our door the entire tin was whipped out in less than 2 days!!! We are huge sweet eaters around here and my husband especially loves cookies and he was the first one to dig in and I think between him and “Bug” I only ended up getting to eat maybe 2 cookies and I’m not so sure they were whole cookies because I was supposed to “share” according to them…so I need to tell them thanks for saving my waist line boys lol! But, in all seriousness these cookies are delicious! To me they tasted just like grandmas homemade cookies :0)! They were loaded with flavor and very chew just the way we like them. I myself loved the Oatmeal Raisin cookie (Oatmeal Raisin is my absolute favorite cookie of all times), my husband on the other hand was drooling over the Macadamia with White Chip and “Bug” well…. Loved them all!
Bottom Line:
We all loved the cookies that came in the tin we were sent to review and it helped me make up my mind about the difficult people on my shopping list this holiday season, Santa included :0), I think he needs a big ol’ plate of David’s Cookies when he delivers “Bug’s” presents this year don’t you agree???? The price of the Fresh Baked Cookies 1 lb. Tin is very reasonable at only $24.95 and the quality and taste of all the cookies included it’s well worth it and I well within our budget for gifts this year so I’m planning on sending at least two of these mouth watering tins to hard to buy for family members! If your recipient prefers a certain cookie flavor over a variety of flavors you can also choose their favorite flavor and send them a 1 lb tin of their favorite cookie….score!
Now, David’s Cookies is not only great for the holidays but for any occasion from birthdays, anniversaries to just because and if your family is anything like mine getting cookies is like one of the best gifts ever! If you are considering sending a food gift to someone this holiday season I would highly recommend checking out all the yummy gift ideas at David’s Cookies, your taste buds wont be sorry!
