GIANTmicrobes Review and Giveaway (Christmas Wish List 2010)

Call me crazy….or just a nerd I guess you could say, but I’ve always been very intrigued with science and impartial different microscopic bugs, mites, pest….well you get the picture if it’s gross and tiny you can bet when we were talking about them in science class I was sure to be paying attention and now that I have a little man of my own I’ve noticed that he has the same love of bugs and creepy crawlies (hence his nickname “Bug”) that I do so when I discovered the collection at GIANTmicrobes I was beyond myself with excitement, and especially when I seen their selection of critters that they offer I knew that both “Bug” and I would love to review a few and I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to review three of the critters!!!

About GIANTmicrobes:

Giantmicrobes™ are plush dolls that look like common microbes.

The product line was introduced in July 2002 and has been enthusiastically received at a retail level. The combination of humor, education, and sympathy resonates with parents, children, educators, pediatricians, science buffs and many others.

Giantmicrobes™ are available in drug stores, bookstores, science museums, children’s museums, hospital gift shops, educational catalogs, and general gift shops worldwide.

Our Thoughts:

We were kindly sent three of the awesome little critters offered from GIANTmicrobes, the Dust Mite, Bed Bug and Book Worm to review! I have to say that they arrived at our door super quickly and again call me weird but they are super adorable (much more so than the real thing!!!) I’m loving the size of these GIANTmicrobes because they really show the details of the critters that you can only see with a special microscope that most parents can’t give their kiddos so I think these are amazing learning tools as well as just cute toys or desk topers!

“Bug” was thrilled when I gave them to him to look over and immediately started asking questions about each of the critters about what they were, what they ate and so forth and I thought it was really neat that he was interested in them and I think that we may have to get the rest of the critters for him, just for the simple purpose of not playing with but to use them as a learning tool! Not only are these critters super cute they are cuddly as well, very soft and well…here I go being a nerd again but I’m just thrilled about finding these little guys!

Now, critters aren’t the only microbes offered at GIANTmicrobes, they have a whole world of microbes to choose from and they would all be wonderful teaching tools for daycares, preschools and high schools. They even have a selection of Venereals or better known as sexually transmitted diseases, that I think would be perfect for a health department or even a sex education class to really show the kids the real consequences of some of their not so smart decisions. The other categories of GIANTmicrobes include Health, Maladies, Exotics, Calamities, Critters, Aquatics, Venereals, Alimentaries, Corporeals, Aerials, Menageries, Tropicals, Ambulatories and Infirmaries so no matter what your interest are your sure to find a GIANTmicrobe that will tickle your fancy!!!

Bottom Line:

I love all three of the GIANTmicrobes we were sent and I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the other microbes that they offer and I’m thinking that they would make an awesome stocking stuffer for the kiddos that are really into science, science college majors or would make a pretty neat gifts to your children’s science teachers at school if you get your teachers gifts.

Buy It:
To purchase any of the GIANTmicrobes mentioned above and so many more visit the GIANTmicrobes website!

Win It:
I am giving away one of the three GIANTmicrobes I was sent to review, don’t worry they have not been played with they have only been looked over for the purpose of this review and have been put up and still have the original tags on them so your choice will be like brand new.
