Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods Review and Giveaway
Are you actually aware of what are in the products you feed your family on a daily basis? Here, for the last several months now I have been more cautious of what I feed my family and since I’m on a current mission to loose quite a bit of weight I have really started paying attention to what is in the foods we eat daily, and I’ve been trying to feed my family only the best, and I was recently introduced to Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods and I was very happy to be given the opportunity to review some of thie yummy looking products.
About Dr. Praeger‘s Sensible Foods (taken from website):
A healthy history: The Story Behind Dr. Praeger’s
It all started in 1994 when successful New Jersey cardiac surgeon Dr. Peter Praeger and his medical partner, Dr. Eric Somberg, helped keep a family business alive. They bought Ungar’s Gefilte Fish – a popular food company within the Jewish and Yiddish communities. The doctors set out on a simple mission – to help people see nutritious food in a new light. They expanded the company to include all-natural and sensible products that would appeal to a wider consumer base. They kept the Ungar’s brand, which includes the original gefilte fish and other traditional Jewish foods, and developed Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods, which now includes dozens of all-natural, kosher frozen foods.
Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods was born and soon became a family affair, with Dr. Praeger’s children – Larry and Danielle, and his nephew Jeffrey - working for the company. Dr. Somberg’s wife, Ellen, and son, Adam also play an integral role in the company. The families now run the business out of a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Elmwood Park, NJ, with 70 employees who feel like family members, too.
You’ll find Dr. Praeger’s in the frozen food section of supermarkets and other retailers including Trader Joe’s, Costco, Whole Foods and others. Keep an eye out for us at your local market – we’re expanding!
Tasting is believing.
Dr. Praeger’s philosophy is that good-for-you food should actually taste good, especially if you don’t let artificial ingredients, colors and fillers get in the way. That’s why our products are made with ingredients you recognize, including flash-frozen vegetables and fish from cold Northern waters. Our hearty California Veggie Burger doesn’t conceal its tasty spinach, broccoli, peas, carrots and onions – it puts them right where you can see and taste them! And our gluten-free options are an easy way to keep wheat out of your diet, while keeping the good things in, like fiber and taste bud-pleasing flavor.
Like having a farm in your freezer.
You could spend hours in your kitchen shredding potatoes, chopping broccoli, breading fish and boiling sweet potatoes. Or, you could just open your freezer, take out a favorite from Dr. Praeger’s, and enjoy the same all-natural food in a fraction of the time, at an affordable price that’s probably less than assembling all of the ingredients yourself.
To your health.
Our customers make us what we are. We feed them, and they feed us with rave reviews and success stories. Some of them are surprised by how quickly our Sensible Foods have become family staples. Some are amazed that healthy food can taste so good. Some just want to know how we do it. All we can say is that we do it with love, and that we hope our products help you live a long, healthy and happy life.
Our Thoughts:
We were sent a variety of products from Dr. Praeger’s that included their Pizza Bagels, California Veggie Balls, Broccoli Littles (for kids), Spinach Pancakes, Chickenless Nuggets and their California Veggie Burgers to review. Our product samples arrived very quickly and were packaged very well and were still nice and cold just as they would have been from purchasing them in a store. Unfortunately non of our local stores carry Dr. Praeger’s, but I intend to change that and request them at our local grocer.
The first item we decided to try was the Pizza Bagels and my son and I both loved them! I have always loved pizza bagels, except for the extreme amount of sauce that most have on them, but that totally wasn’t the case with the Dr. Praeger’s bagels they had just the right balance of crunch, sauce and cheese!!! Next, we decided to go with the Broccoli Littles, which are made just for kids, now “Bug” loves broccoli and any greens so I thought that he may really enjoy these and I was totally right…..and I even decided to give one a bite and these are so good….and a very unique twist to snack time that “Bug” just loved!!!
We also really enjoyed the Spinach Pancakes for breakfast one morning and I have to say at first I was a little reluctant to try them because of the spinach but I’m glad I did!!! They are very yummy and filling, not to mention it really spices up breakfast!! I also served the California Veggie Balls with BBQ sauce for the big Arkansas football game a few weeks ago and they were a huge hit….nobody could tell they were veggie balls :0)!!! We have also had the Chickenless Nuggets and California Veggie Burgers for supper and my husband, who thinks he has to have meat for every meal…had no idea they were veggie and really enjoyed eating them. Me and “Bug” knew what they were and we both thought they were delicious!
Bottom Line:
We love Dr. Praeger’s!!! I can’t wait for our local stores to start carrying Dr. Praeger’s products, and I am fully intending to request them at our local small grocery store and our larger stores in the next town!!!!! I really wish we had more of these delicious and healthy foods to eat because we really enjoyed eating them and I know “Bug” is really craving the spinach pancakes and broccoli littles, he asks for them almost daily.
If you are looking for healthy foods for your family that are good for you and delicious, I highly recommend checking out the selection of products from Dr. Praeger’s!!!
