I know I’ve said this over and over but my little man “Bug” loves books and loves to look at the pictures and we take time out of our day and before bedtime to read a couple of his favorite books! So, needless to say I am constantly on the lookout for new and unique books for him so that I can keep him a nice variety of books so that he never gets board or tired of the same old books over and over again. When I stumbled upon Little Green Books I knew these books would be perfect for our little man!
About Little Green Books (Taken From Website):
This new series of books will get little ones excited about going green. From recycling and replanting to creating an awareness of endangered animals and much more, Little Green Books plant the seeds for earth-friendly living at an early age. Each book in this environmentally friendly line is made from recycled materials - proving our commitment to this worthy cause.
Little Green Books is a new eco-friendly series from Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division. As our mission statement above explains, each book in this series will be devoted to educating children about the benefits of being green.
Little Green Books will cover a variety of subjects, teaching children about the dangers of global warming, the benefits of recycling, what they can do to help endangered animals, and much more. In I Can Save The Earth!, children can follow Max the Little Green Monster on his journey as he goes from being a litterbug to loving the earth. And in The Polar Bears' Home, children can learn about the polar bears' habitat and how it has become a victim of global warming. On a lighter note, The Adventures of a Plastic Bottle details the journey of a plastic bottle, from a blob of crude oil to a plastic bottle to a fleece sweatshirt! Told in diary form, this humorous tale is sure to give readers a laugh while stressing the significance of the recycling process.
In our storybooks we also include a glossary of terms so that parents and children can learn them together. So if you don't know what "postconsumer" means or what "compost" is, don't worry! Our books provide definitions so that your green vocabulary will grow along with your awareness. If you're already devoted to living green, these books will be a welcome addition to your child's library. And for those of you who aren't totally green yet, you'll still find these stories entertaining and educational.
What sets our books apart from other "green" books is that in addition to the themes, the manufacturing of these books is also environmentally friendly. Our books are printed on recycled materials with vegetable or soy inks. This initiative will continue as the series progresses, from storybooks to cloth books to novelty board books. A unique, innovative new series, Little Green Books plant the seeds of eco-friendly consciousness at an early age so that we can grow a generation of earth-friendly readers.
Our Thoughts:
We were able to choose two books to review and after much debate we finally decided on the books What Do You See? A lift-the-flap book about endangered animals and the book My First Garden.
“Bug” was extremely excited about getting these books in the mail because he hasn’t gotten a new book in quite some time so he was due, the first thing we did once taking them from the package was to open them up and look at the very fun and well illustrated pictures to help us decide what book to read first and not much to my surprise he wanted to read the What Do You See? Book.
The My First Garden book is also a very important book in my opinion because it not only shows the teamwork of the mother and daughter but it also shows the rewards of planting a garden and all the fun veggies that you can plant to make a homemade soup at the end of the harvest!
Bottom Line:
We have really enjoyed the two books we were sent and I am really looking forward to purchasing “Bug” some more of these books because not only are they a quick and interesting read but they teach very important lessons about live and other things that I think “Bug” should learn.
If you have a little one in your household or to buy for any of the book available at Little Green Books would make a wonderful gift for any occasion, so you should definability check them out!
