Benjamin and Bumper to the Rescue Review and Giveaway

My little “Bug” loves to look at books and loves to have one read to him before bedtime and at different times during the day so when I was contacted to do a review and giveaway on the book Benjamin and Bumper to the Rescue by bestselling author Molly Coxe, I didn’t hesitate to answer with a YES! Just looking at the website and reading a little about this book I knew that my little “Bug” would really enjoy this book!

About Benjamin and Bumper to the Rescue by bestselling author Molly Coxe:

Benjamin and Bumper to the Rescue by bestselling author Molly Coxe is a truly unique picture book that delivers a pint sized view of a larger than life adventure. Photographs of incredibly detailed dioramas and a story chock-full of ingenious plans, humorous situations and surprising twists make this endearing tale of Benjamin, a fuzzy mouse and Bumper, his true-blue elephant friend, an instant bedtime classic. When Benjamin and Bumper embark on a harrowing mission to rescue Benjamin’s mother, their travels take them from the floor of a wooden wardrobe, to the heights of a lofty kitchen table, through a dangerous garden path and up-up-up a castle tower to the lair of Sir Pouncelot, the book’s foppish villain. Skillfully photographed by Olivier Toppin, Coxe’s uncommonly endearing felted wool characters are wonderfully alive, and her carefully gathered props of buttons, antique toys and cracked dishes are perfect for kids who delight in searching the illustrations for all of the tiny details that reveal themselves at the turn of every page.

Our Thoughts:

We were sent a copy of Benjamin and Bumper to the Rescue and I could not wait for this book to arrive! It’s been a little while since “Bug” and I had a new book to read at bed time and I had a gut feeling that this would find itself by our bed for several nights to come and boy was I ever right! The day the book arrived I decided to wait until bedtime to let “Bug” even see it and I wish I had a photo of his face when I first came into the bedroom with the book in my hand, he was so excited he couldn’t wait to read it and that first night we had to read it twice!

The illustrations in this book are absolutely amazing and each time we read the book “Bug” points to something that we hadn’t noticed before while reading so it never gets boring to read! I love this story it’s such a uplifting story and really shows that your never too little to help someone if you put your mind to it! I don’t want to giveaway too much of the book but I do want to give you a little “Squeak Peak” with the following video:

Bottom Line:

“Bug” and I have really enjoyed this book and it’s become a once a week (at least) read before bedtime, and it’s a book that I really enjoy reading to him and I think it’s just plain wonderful and I love everything about it from the ease of reading and the gorgeous illustrations!

I really recommend this book to anyone with little ones, or those that are beginning to read (I think it would be a great read for a beginner)!

  19. As a teacher it's hard to find interesting early reader books that aren't too hard or too easy. “Benjamin and Bumper to the Rescue is an excellent resource for teachers who are looking for a book that is appropriate for early readers and listeners, from preschoolers to students through grades two or three.
