For awhile now I’ve been seeing Strider Running Bikes all over Blog land and I’ve been very interested in learning more about them for “Bug” so I finally broke down and decided it was time to find out more and I am so glad I did!
About Strider Running Bikes (Taken From Website):
Designed for children, ages 1 - 5, the Strider™ PREbike is lightweight, easy to control and features an adjustable seat and handlebars to accommodate a growing child. Most importantly, the Strider teaches your child balance, coordination and develops glittering confidence.
And the Strider is steady, stable and safe. At the first feeling of instability, your child will instinctively place his feet securely on the ground. So there are no "tricycle tip-overs" or "training-wheel wobbles" that stir-up a fear, hesitancy, or dislike of bike riding.
After a while of debate with myself, the hubby and “Bug” about if we should try it and then on what color to get we decided to go for it and “Bug” chose the yellow Strider Bike. We received the bike very quickly and even though it needs some assembly it wasn’t nothing we couldn’t handle so within a few minuets “Bug” was set up and ready to set off learning how to ride his new Strider Bike!
I first started him off in the house to get the basic drift of the bike and before long he was zooming around the living room and kitchen area, so when I decide I was comfortable enough to let him try it outside we suited up and out we went!
It did take him a few minuets to get the hang of riding it outside and I now know I’ve got to invest in a pair of knee and elbow pads and a helmet before we do much riding outside…not that he did a lot of falling off but just for my peace of mind and just incase!
“Bug” really seemed to get the hang of the Strider rather quickly and has been riding it now for a few weeks and as the time goes by he gets more and more used to how to use it and has no problems keeping his balance.
I’m really impressed on how quickly that he took to this bike and now he takes it every where with him when we are going to be going to someone’s home where he can ride. I think these are wonderful to teach kids balance and get them ready to graduate to a regular bike.
