Barbara’s Bakery Review and Giveaway

As some of yall may already know, our family has made a more of a conscious effort to eat healthier and buy healthier snacks for “Bug”. But, lets face it some of the natural and healthy foods don’t taste well……as good as the “unnatural” and “unhealthy” foods available on the market today and sometimes “Bug” and his daddy down right refuses to eat the more healthy and natural options I try to provide for them. Recently we were given the opportunity to review a sample package of goodies from Barbara’s Bakery and I have to say it’s changed the way we all three look and healthier and natural foods!

About Barbara’s Bakery (taken from website):

In 1971, when Barbara started our company, the Bay Area was buzzing with young people full of a desire to express their love for all people. The world was changing daily as they created their own paths and sought to turn others onto new directions.

Barbara, then 17, found her calling in real food and opened a small natural bakery in Northern California. She had a simple plan—make wholesome food taste incredibly delicious. Inspired by good health, family, and the kitchen table as the cornerstones of the good life, she used whole grains and oats just as nature intended—free from anything artificial. Barbara selected her ingredients carefully to allow vital vitamins and minerals to do their best to impart their healthy benefits.

The bakery exceeded her wildest dreams and grew from a storefront start-up to a thriving wholesale business. Since those first loaves more than 40 years ago, our product offerings have grown to include cereals, snack bars, cookies, crackers, and cheese puffs.

Today, a few of us wish we still wore flowers in our hair like Barbara did. And, we know our mission is clear: healthy people, naturally. We carry on Barbara’s commitment to create the best-tasting natural products free of artificial preservatives and ingredients, hydrogenated oils, and refined white sugar.

Barbara’s says NO to:
* Hydrogenated Oils
* Artificial Flavors
* Artificial Preservatives
* Refined Sugar
* Trans Fats
* Artificial Additives
* High Fructose Corn Syrup

Our Thoughts:

We were sent an awesome variety pack of Barbara’s Bakery products (pictured above) to review. Our sample variety pack included: Snackimals Cookies (Chocolate Chip), White Cheddar Baked Cheese Puffs, High Fiber Cranberry Cereal and gluten-free Puffins Multigrain Cereal. Once we found out what our package would contain we could not wait for it to show up on our doorstep and let’s just say it’s a good think they arrived quickly because “Bug” was begging for the Snackimals before they even arrived!

Once our products arrived it was time for the ultimate test, the taste test from “Bug” and his daddy! The first of the products we tried was no surprise the Snackimals Cookies in Chocolate Chip, and much to my surprise “Bug” really liked them, I was a little nervous because he is used to his cookies being loaded with sugar and other not so good for you things but I’m so happy we found Snackimals and since trying them the first time we have actually bought them several times and have tried a few of the other varieties but “Bug” seems to prefer the chocolate chip over the others.

Next, we tried out the White Cheddar Baked Cheese Puffs and well…these were love at first bite! I love cheese puffs and I have always been a loyal customer to another brand but I have to say I loved the kick of the white cheddar on the Barbara’s Bakery cheese puffs. “Bug” also really enjoyed these little gems and so did his daddy! Score two for Barbara’s Bakery! We can’t wait to try the other three varieties of cheese puffs!

Up next was the next morning at breakfast I decided to give the High Fiber Cranberry Cereal a go and since I’m the only one who will even think about eating anything high fiber, I was on my own with this one or at least until I made my bowl and daddy seen how good it looked then he decided to give it a try as well. I have to say that the cereal mix itself is both colorful and really delicious to look at and then add your favorite milk and let’s just say this cereal makes your taste buds come to life and just between us….you will never even know your eating a high fiber cereal!

Last but certainly not least comes the gluten-free Puffins Multigrain Cereal, this one was “Bug’s” favorite of the cereals. Well….really all three of us really liked this cereal as well and it was one of the better gluten-free cereals we have tried in the past. Unlike other gluten-free cereals the Puffins Multigrain cereal was very flavorful and not bland. I love that these little guys are sweet but not to sweet or caked in sugar. “Bug’ has officialy made this one of this must have breakfast cereals and he even takes some along with him as a quick snack.

Bottom Line:

After the experience trying the four Barbara’s Bakery products above, I feel very confident feeding my family Barbara’s family of products to aid us in riding our bodies of the yucky unnatural and unhealthy products. Thank you Barbara’s Bakery for letting my family know that we can indeed eat healthier and not have to sacrifice taste to do so.

We recommend Barbara’s Bakery products to everyone! They are awesome!
