KidSwitch Review and Giveaway
“Bug” is only three years old but he is in the independent stage where he wants to do everything himself. Although a lot of what he thinks he can do on his own he can, recently we have noticed that to turn on his bathroom light has been an issue for him. He generally climbs on the cloths hamper but to me that is just not safe and I really disliked him doing so. But, recently I found the solution to our problem….KidSwitch, and when they offered to let “Bug” try out the KidSwitch we were all very excited to see exactly how well this would work for us!
About KidSwitch (taken from website):
KidSwitch is a glow-in-the-dark light switch extender, that can be used with either toggle or decora stylelight switches. KidSwitch can be installed and used on any single, double, triple, or more toggle or decora style switch plate. (For decora switches, the adapter is required).
KidSwitch extends down 12" from the switch, allowing toddlers to safely reach and operate room lights.
To install on a toggle switch, you only need a screwdriver! Remove the existing switch plate screws, and replace them with the KidSwitch screw sets. Tighten the screws enough to secure the switch to the plate, while allowing for easy up and down movement.
To install on a decora switch, no tools are required! Simply peel and stick the adapter and then snap the KidSwitch into place!
To operate and turn the light on - simply push the moon handle up.
To turn the light off - simply pull the moon handle down.
Thank you for your interest in KidSwitch. We know that you and your toddler will get years of use from this unique helping hand tool!

Our Thoughts:
As soon as our KidSwitch arrived I immediately decided to put it on the bathroom light switch in which “Bug” uses the most. Since we got him out of his pull-ups and using the potty regularly it’s been an issue for him turning the light on and off by himself and I know it aggregated him that he couldn’t safely reach it and it was kind of an incontinence for me to have to stop washing dishes/folding laundry just to turn on the bathroom light so there were many days before the KidSwitch arrived that I simply left the light on to eliminate the problem of him climbing on things to turn it on or me having to stop what I am doing to do so for him.
The first thing “Bug” noticed about the KidSwitch is the handle shaped like a half moon, he really thought that was cool. The installation of the KidSwitch was super fast and easy, all I had to do was simply unscrew the middle screw of the light switch over place the opening slit over the switch and replace the screw and it was ready for the test drive!
“Bug” immediately began using it and has used it everyday since! Its very easy for him now to use the potty like a big boy all by himself and gives him the independence he wanted and needed for me to continue to do my chores while he took care of his business. The KidSwitch has made such an impact on him being independent we have decided to add a couple more to our home, one for his room and one for the kitchen! My mom and dad are even considering adding a couple to the rooms in their home where “Bug” has a hard time reaching the switches.
The KidSwitch has really changed our lives for the better! I don't know how we were making it without one of these! Not only does it help “Bug” turn the light on and off like a big boy, but it also glows in the dark which allows him to take care of business at night and helps us all find the light switch in the dark!
Bottom Line:
We love our KidSwitch and recommend it to anyone with toddlers running around the house, to help them independently turn on and off the lights they use most! I can’t say enough good things about this product, it is perfect in every way and I have yet to find anything that is slightly a con to it. This would make a wonderful birthday or baby shower gift!
