Heart of Haiti Project and How You Can Help...

As most of you know we are quickly approaching the anniversary of the devastating Haiti Earthquake on January 12, 2010 and I just wanted to take a few seconds to remember the lives lost during that terrible time and share some information about a very special way to give back and help the people of Haiti with The Heart of Haiti Project!

ABOUT THE HEART OF HAITI PROJECT

The Heart of Haiti Project is an initiative founded by Willa Shalit (daughter of Gene Shalit) and her company, Fairwinds Trading, a for-profit company that uses business as a strategy for economic empowerment of people, especially women, in the Majority World. The Majority World is where two billion of the world’s three billion people live, in poverty.

Their focus on women as a preferred partner is based in part on their history, in part on their leadership as a woman-owned firm, and in part on evidence that raising the standard of living for women has the greatest positive multiplier effect within families, communities and cultures. Our mission is to connect cultures through business, art and understanding.

Through a partnership with Macy’s, Heart of Haiti offers artisan-crafted decorative arts and jewelry for sale. All income derived from sales of the products on the Heart of Haiti site enhances an artisan’s family’s nutrition, educates children, and brings access to health care and dignity

How you can help:

Helping support the Hart of Haiti Project is very simple and very rewarding….simply visit the Heart of Haiti mini site at Macy’s and have a look at all the wonderful and beautiful items made from recycled oil drums, wrought iron, papier mache and stone all made by Haitian artisans, that reflect Haiti’s rich culture and history and the Haitian’s drive to rebuild their lives after the terrible earthquake on January 12, 2010! Simply choose your favorite item and make a purchase to help because proceeds from every Hart of Haiti purchase will be donated to help provide better health care, education, nutrition and other live changing resources for the artisans and their families.

I have spent quite some time looking over the collection of items available for purchase through the Heart of Haiti Project and I have to say they are offering some of the most unique and beautiful pieces I have ever seen and if you don’t mind I would like to share a few of my most favorite pieces with you all:

I am simply in love with this Heart of Haiti Metal Giftware, Coral Collection Reg. $25.00-$60.00

I also really like the Heart of Haiti Mirror, Aqwe Reg. $75.00

The Hart of Haiti Picture Frame, Tree of Life Reg. $25.00 is also a very beautiful piece and I would love to have one of these to hold a family photo!

As you can see I could just go on and on about all of the beautiful items available and too see them all just CLICK HERE!! So head on over and help support the artisans of Haiti and their family to rebuild their lives from that devastating earthquake last year!

I was selected for this very special “CleverHaiti” opportunity by Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity. All opinions are my own.
